No, “ poppies lie in Flanders field”,
No, “Stand in the trench, Achilles”
No, “passing-bells for those who die like cattle”
No, “stained stones kissed by English dead”
No, “Dulce et decorum est”
Yet, “still, A soldier of a thousand years,”
For, that’s what disease is
and, “Half dead creatures reeled about the streets. Not knowing what was to become of them, became uterly carless of everything, wether sacred or profane.”
and, “Come here, I’m thirsty, bring me a drink of water. I am still alive. Don’t be frightened. Perhaps I won’t die. Please hold me tight, hug my wasted body. You ought to be holding me in your arms.”
and, “Father, why have you abandoned me? Do you forget I am your child? O, Mother, where have you gone? Why are you so cruel to me when yesterday you were so kind? You fed me at your breast and carried me within your womb for nine months”
and, “And so they died. None could be found to bury the dead for money or for friendship”
and,” Alas! My beloved brother, what shall I say? How shall I begin? Whither shall I turn? On all sides is sorrow; everywhere is fear.”
and, “We should do what the bibles says and cut their throats”
and, “Is AIDS a judgment of God, I could not say for sure, but I think so”
and, “the children of aids”
and, “There are thousands of gay me in New York City with aids and nearly every one of them is being taken care of by a friend or a lover who has stuck with them through worse things then my … everyone got that except me”
and, “You died of the plague? The spotty monster, like you alone.”
and, “No Henry aids is what homosexuals have, I have liver cancer”
And, “I called her back I told her, her son was a sinner. I said if you hand upon me again, I will put your sons’ obituary in your hometown newspaper and I will list the cause of death she said her son was a sinner and he was already dead as far as she was concerned. I went back into the room of the dying man and as I walked in, he said “Oh mama. I knew you’d come” and then I lifted his hand. And what was I going to do? So I took his hand. I said I’m here honey, I’m here”
and, “I fear people in the street with masks have them on because they know they might need to squat down and take a shit at any time”
and, “we scuttle around the stores glaring at one another idk man it’s like we are all enemies we have been polarized. I don’t see a neighbor when I look at them I see it. ”
.Great death fear has made all his forevermore.
